2024 NWSL Season

The 2024 season kicks off with 1 new team, 1 returning team, and 3 new broadcast partners. Here's the changes summarized.

• Bay FC begins their 1st season of play. Bay FC will play in PayPal Park in San Jose, CA.

• Utah Royals return to the league with new ownership.

• Three new media partners join CBS and the NWSL in broadcasting the league. Amazon will carry a game every Friday.

• ion will carry a DH every Saturday.

• Disney will broadcast select games throughout the season on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. ESPN Deportes will carry a Spanish broadcast of every Disney game. The games will also be simulcast on ESPN+.

• NWSL will move their broadcasts from nwslsoccer.com to the new NWSL+.

• Local broadcast information is currently unknown. It will be posted once it is finalized. However both Kansas City and Angel City are expected to have a radio broadcast of every game.

• The NWSL Challenge Cup changes formats. Instead of being an in-season tournament, the Challenge Cup will be a 1-off game to begin the regular season featuring the winners of last years Supporters Shield and NWSL Champion. In the event that the same team fulfills both spots, the Challenge Cup will feature a rematch of the NWSL Championship.

• With expansion to 14 teams and 190 matches total, the NWSL will bring back the Olympic break.

• Press releases haven't been made, but the NWSL does have some international broadcast partners. Included in these are Optus Sports (Australia), every ESPN broadcasters (including TSN), Viasat (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, & Sweden), and Canal GOAT. These broadcasters will traditionally use the World Feed (except ESPN broadcasts, where the ESPN networks can use ESPN), or will provide their own commentary.
