2025-26 NBA Season
The 2025 NBA season will see its most significant broadcast changes since 2002. The league signed an 11-year television contract with Disney (ESPN/ABC), Comcast (NBC and the Peacock Network), and Amazon (Prime Video). In effect, this new agreement ended the NBA’s 45-year relationship with Turner Sports, which had aired games on TNT and TBS, as well as produced games and content for NBA TV.
NBC regained broadcast rights to the NBA for the first time in 22 years. They will air two regional primetime games on Tuesday nights, with separate games airing on each coast. They will also air weekly Sunday Night Basketball games after the NFL season concludes. NBC and Peacock will take over coverage of the NBA All-Star weekend for the duration of the contract. The Peacock network will stream regionalized games on Monday nights and simulcast all NBC broadcasts.
Amazon’s Prime Video acquired NBA coverage for weekly Thursday games after the NFL season ends, as well as select Friday and Saturday afternoon games. In addition, they have streaming rights to the league’s In-Season Tournament, including its semifinals and final.
ESPN/ABC retains its coverage of the NBA, with few changes to its game coverage. In a separate agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery, ESPN will sublicense the ‘Inside the NBA’ pregame show, along with its talent, for select major NBA events, including Opening Night, Christmas Day, All-Star Weekend, and the postseason.
All three networks will share broadcasts of the postseason. ESPN will air 10 Conference Finals, while Prime Video and NBC will alternate coverage of the other series on an annual basis. There will be one postseason in which NBC and Prime will each air the Conference Finals. The NBA Finals will continue to air on ABC through the duration of the contract.
