1952 MLB Season
As originally written by Tim Brulia:
With the naming of Allen and Barber as the TV announcers, for the first time, the team's commentators took precedent for TV over radio.
By now, the M.O. for calling a World Series on TV would be that the home team's (or League, if not the local) commentator would call the play-by-play, normally by himself, for the first 4 1/2 innings, and in the middle of the 5th, hand off the call to the visiting team's (or League's) announcer for the rest of the game, again usually working the call solo. This format would by and large be the standard (except for 1961) through 1965.
